STILL GOT THE WHOLE WORLD IN HIS HANDS

2 Samuel 22:18-20 says, “He rescued me from my strong enemy, from those who hated me, for they were too mighty for me. They confronted me in the day of my calamity, but the LORD was my support. He brought me out into a broad place; he rescued me, because he delighted in me.”
A lighthouse is a tower designed to radiate light and to serve as a navigational aid for boaters and captains at sea. The lighthouse is used to mark off dangers that may be unseen on the coastlines, such as hazardous shoals, reefs, or rocks. The lighthouse can also be used to provide safe entry back into a harbor from a treacherous storm.
The storms of life are numerous and can cause severe damage to the Christian’s walk. It is important, while in the storm, to have something secure, immovable, and trustworthy to look to that can bring one home to safety. Psalm 61:3 says, “For you have been my refuge, a strong tower against the foe.”
Matthew 14 illustrates the importance of placing our eyes on Jesus in the midst of the storm as Peter attempts to walk on water. Peter steps out of the boat in faith, and yet distracted, he begins to sink.
What are you looking at and who are you looking to when you are afraid? Are you looking at your power to overcome the storms, or the problems of the storm that keep coming? Jesus is the only one that is permanent in this life and the next and is therefore the safest place to look in the midst of the storms.
As children we used to sing, “He’s got the whole world in His hands” and I think we actually believed that, as children. As adults we begin to doubt how powerful he really is, which has led to the storms of life having more power over us than they should. Jesus is the all sufficient, all satisfying, all powerful, great I AM. The words of the psalmist ring true from Psalm 27:1 which says, “The LORD is my light and my salvation-- whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life-- of whom shall I be afraid?”
Join us this Sunday at 10 as we look to King Jesus as the only way through the storms of life!
