SEE & HEAR
Doing Ministry Like Jesus
These five words are taken from Acts 2:41-47 where the life of the early church is described. What did the early church do? What did the early church promote? What happened on a daily, weekly, yearly basis in the early church?
The answer to these questions is:
This Sunday, June 23, at 10am we will be continuing our series on "Seeing Jesus". The focal point this Sunday will be on hearing and seeing Jesus talk and do "ministry". My goal is for us to see that Jesus had a ministry mindset. He ministered to others. He served others. He loved on others. We will hear from Matthew in chapter 25:31-46 where Jesus speaks of the eternal significance of serving others: others who are hungry, thirsty, strangers, naked, sick, and in prison. Read this passage of Scripture and see the eternal significance of Jesus' words. Hear Him!
We will also "see Jesus" as He ministers to and serves others by washing their feet in John 13:1-17. Jesus ministers to others and then tells the recipients of His acts of service to go and minister and serve others in the same way, with humility, service, and blessings. Read John 13:1-17 and "see Jesus" as a servant.
We are blessed at WPBC with the number of people who get this. They get their role as ministers. They don't have titles or positions or salaries or recognition. They just get it and they do it.
For many churches, it is said that 10% of people do 90% of the work. This is NOT the case at West Pines. We are a team of ministers who desire to be like Jesus and serve others. I am often blessed and encouraged by your ministry and I do thank God that you get it!
But why? Why do some get it while others don't? Why do some serve while others sit? Why do some minister while others spectate?
This Sunday we will conclude the Bible study by looking at some "motivations for a ministry mindset like Jesus". Looking forward to Sunday. Hope to see you here.
