Mother Knows Best
Advice from Moms
On Father's Day, it's a different approach. I typically share some motivational sermon aimed at getting dads to step up to the plate and be the father God intends for them to be. But that's next month when I give advice for dads.
For Mother's Day, we'll be speaking about advice too . . .but rather than give advice to our moms, I'll be sharing some of theirs. I've collected some advice that moms have given or may be giving now to their children.
I don't know about you, but my mom was a great advice-giver. By that I mean that she gave a GREAT amount of advice. Constantly. Like giving advice was her spiritual gift. Or maybe the Holy Spirit used my mom's voice to speak advice to me. Maybe???
Although there were times in my life that I didn't want my mom's advice and certainly times that I didn't heed my mom's advice, I now see that I was blessed to have a mom that loved me enough to try as best she could to direct my steps and change my behavior. All the while giving me more advice.
This Mother's Day, we will be looking at some valuable advice from mom that we can all benefit from no matter our age. This is advice that my mom gave me at times and I believe, in some ways, it's advice that all moms may want to give to their children.
- Be a difference maker. (See Matthew 5:13-16)
- Realize it's not all about you. (Philippians 2:3-4; Matthew 20:26-28)
- Allow me some personal space/time. (See Deuteronomy 4:9-10; 6:6-7)
