OUR PURPOSE STATEMENT
West Pines Baptist Church exists to:
- lead people to Christ through evangelizing the spiritually lost,
- bring people into fellowship with Jesus Christ and His people,
- assist people in their quest for being a better disciple of Christ,
- and equip people to minister in their areas of giftedness and to worship Christ, the risen and living Lord in all aspects of life.
West Pines Baptist Church desires to assist people in their spiritual lives by encouraging them to "Love God and Love people." Through our worship, discipleship, fellowship, ministry and evangelism, I believe you will, through the empowerment of the Holy Spirit, be changed to love God and people more. As an old song says, "We are Family." Come and be a part of our family. ~ Pastor Paul Sorber
We believe the Bible, consisting of the Old and New Testaments, is the verbally inspired Word of God, is inerrant in the original writings, and should be upheld as the supreme and final authority in faith and life. We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
We believe the Holy Spirit is a Divine person, possessing all the attributes of God and qualities of personhood; by Him believers are called, regenerated, baptized into Christ, indwelt, sealed, filled for service, and continually sanctified.
We believe in the direct creation of the universe and man by God, according to the Genesis account of creation, apart from any process of evolution.
We believe that the salvation of sinners is wholly of grace through mediatorial work of the Lord Jesus Christ, that He died for our sins according to the Scriptures as a representative and substitutionary sacrifice. All who believe in Him are justified by His shed blood and are in possession for an eternally secure salvation.
We believe in the universal, spiritual priesthood of believers.
We believe in the local church as an independent and self-governing company of baptized believers associated by covenant in faith and fellowship with other churches of like faith and order.
We believe the Lord's Supper is a commemoration of His death until He comes. We believe in "that blessed hope," which is the catching up of all believers, living and dead, at Christ's imminent return.
We believe that civil government is of divine appointment for the interests and good order of human society.
OUR DOCTRINAL BELIEFS
A church that is strong must understand what it believes. Our doctrinal beliefs are based in the Word of God. We accept the Bible's self-witness that "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works." II Timothy 3:16,17.
We believe that Jesus Christ was begotten by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, and is true God-man. We believe in His crucifixion for our sins. His burial, bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, and present life there as high priest and advocate for us.
We believe in the personal existence of angels. We believe in the personal existence of Satan and demons.
We believe that man was created in the image of God, that he sinned and thereby incurred not only physical death, but also spiritual death.
We believe the new birth is a new creation in Christ Jesus.
We believe in the unity of all true believers in the Church, which is the Body of Christ.
We believe that Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water to show forth, as a solemn and beautiful emblem, our faith in the crucified, buried, and risen Savior.
We believe in the bodily resurrection of the dead, both of the unjust and the just.
